Club History

In 1890, around the time this photograph of Great Yarmouth Town Hall was taken, a meeting took place in the Town Hall to form a camera club to be called The Great Yarmouth and District Photographic Society. A link to a copy of a newspaper report of the meeting can be found on our Archives page.

In its present form the Society was re-established after the Second World War, in 1948, and we currently have a small number of enthusiastic members, meeting at 7.30pm every Wednesday evening in the Old School Village Centre on Green Lane Bradwell, NR31 8QH from September to April and outside at photo-friendly venues in the summer.

Although the majority of members are using digital photography we still have others using film in a variety of formats. New members are welcome what ever their interests or level of expertise.
